Our team
Lydia Bishop, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Canton, Georgia. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Kennesaw State University and soon after worked for Cherokee County as a probation officer for adults. I quickly recognized that many of the individuals within the judicial system needed resources and therapeutic support. Given this recognition, I started exploring ways to support those with mental health struggles and soon returned to Kennesaw State University to receive my Masters of Arts degree in Social Work.
Following my graduate program, I began working with adolescents and adults in various settings, including Drug and Alcohol Treatment Courts, Juvenile Detention Centers, private practice settings, and in-home community counseling.
Building a relationship is the core foundation for long lasting change in the therapeutic work. It is important to me that no matter my client's struggles, they feel safe in working with me. I work with clients dealing with many different kinds of struggles from anxiety, depression, family issues, divorce/separation, addiction, parenting struggles, and relationship issues. I have also worked with many clients around building self-esteem and self-love.
I come from a very relational approach. I believe in authentic and genuine connection with my clients to help them in their journey of growth and change. In the therapeutic relationship, it is very important for my clients to feel safe and heard in their sessions with me. I mostly use Family Systems, Person-Centered, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused and CBT modalities when working with my clients.

As a therapist, I am down-to-earth. I skip the jargon and speak your language, making even the toughest topics feel approachable. My office isn't just a place for deep introspection; it's a safe haven where laughter is welcome and judgment is left at the door.
My warmth and genuine care create a space where you can be your truest self without fear of scrutiny. I am all about building trust and forming a genuine connection, because I know that's where the real magic of therapy happens.
But don't let my easygoing nature fool you—my support runs deep. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or just feeling a bit lost, I am there with empathy, wisdom, and a healthy dose of humor.
I have experience working with Depression, Anxiety, Life Transitions, Substance Use, LGBTQ+ issues, Mood Disorders, PTSD, Trauma, ADD/ADHD, Grief and Bereavement, Work/Life Balance, Goal Achievement, and Personality Disorders.
In my work, I use mindfulness based therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brain spotting, Person-Centered, Family system, Motivational Interviewing, and attachment based therapies to help you identify areas along your journey you would like to address and/or improve.

I’m passionate about walking alongside kids, teens, and young adults as they navigate life’s challenges. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and never alone in what they’re going through. I truly believe in meeting each person where they are, with empathy, curiosity, and respect.
I earned both my Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees from Georgia State University. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including foster care case management, clinical staff at a pediatric office, and school-based therapy, which has allowed me to support individuals and families facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and parenting stress. Working across medical, school, and child welfare environments, has given me a deep, well-rounded perspective of the unique pressures that children and families experience throughout life.
In my work, I strive to be playful and engaging with younger kids, helping them to feel safe and connected through creativity and fun. With teens, I take a collaborative approach—working together to build trust, explore emotions, and develop real-life coping skills that feel authentic and useful to them. I also enjoy supporting young adults as they navigate life transitions, relationships, identity, and the uncertainty that often comes with growing into independence.
I use a blend of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). Whether it’s helping a child to manage big emotions, supporting a teen through tough transitions, or walking alongside a young adult figuring out their next steps, I focus on building strong, trusting relationships, and helping clients feel empowered to grow and heal.

I am a Licensed Masters Social Worker in both Alabama and Georgia. I received my Bachelors Degree from the University of Alabama in which I focused my studies in secondary education. I began working with children in the school setting that presented with behavioral concerns, learning disabilities, and autism. As I worked with my students to promote continued social development and educational success, I began to develop a passion for becoming an advocate for all children who were experiencing barriers and hardships not only at school, but in the home as well. This passion led me to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Tennessee where I graduated with my Masters of Social Work. Since completing my masters degree, I have worked with adolescents and their families in various settings including Juvenile Detention Centers, Community Based services, and school-based therapy. As I continue to strive for growth as a therapist, I am currently working on my Doctorate of Social Work so that I may continue providing the best practice and services for all clients.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families that present with a variety of needs such as anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, ADHD, grief, and anger management. I also have experience working with individuals experiencing difficulty with self acceptance and identity issues. As an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, I strive to provide a safe space for all clients to be their true self and to be able to express their needs openly in an affirming environment. I focus my therapeutic approaches based upon the needs of each client. I use person-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, family systems, motivation interviewing, play therapy, recreational therapy, and expressive/art therapy.

From the very beginning of our work together, my goal is to create a space where you feel genuinely accepted, supported, and empowered. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults, and I’m deeply committed to providing inclusive, individualized care that meets you where you are. I believe that authentic connection is at the heart of meaningful therapy, and I strive to ensure your voice is always heard and valued throughout the process.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University. I’m currently completing a Master of Public Health at Brown University. My professional experience spans a range of settings, including residential mental health programs, intensive outpatient clinics, and the CDC’s Injury Center. These diverse environments have shaped my approach to care—blending evidence-based practices with personalized, client-centered support.
I have experience working with a wide range of concerns, including mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders (PTSD, OCD), personality disorders, substance use, psychotic disorders (such as schizophrenia), autism and ADHD, and LGBTQ+ affirming care, including support for gender dysphoria.
I primarily draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), integrating these with a trauma-informed, person-centered framework. Whether we’re building coping skills or engaging in deeper self-reflection, I tailor our work to align with your needs, goals, and values.
There’s no one-size-fits-all path in mental health—and that’s why I start by listening. Together, we’ll build a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, collaboration, and growth.
