Trauma Therapy
Trauma can affect far more than how you remember the past. It can shape how you see yourself, how you relate to others, how your body responds to stress, and how safe you feel in the present. You may experience anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, difficulty trusting others, people-pleasing, avoidance, shame, intrusive memories, or feel disconnected from your body and emotions. Sometimes, you may not even recognize these responses as connected to what you've experienced.
Our approach to trauma therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and deeply integrative. We recognize that healing doesn't happen by simply forcing yourself to revisit painful memories. Instead, we focus on creating safety, building trust, and helping you develop the resources you need to process difficult experiences at a pace that feels manageable for you.
Using approaches such as EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-focused CBT, we work with both the mind and body to address the ways trauma continues to impact you. These approaches can help you process distressing experiences, understand protective patterns, reduce the intensity of trauma responses, and develop a greater sense of connection with yourself.
We may also incorporate parts work, nervous system regulation, grounding and mindfulness techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other evidence-based interventions based on your individual needs and goals. Rather than treating you as though something is “wrong” with you, we explore the ways your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and protective responses may have developed as understandable attempts to keep you safe.
Trauma healing is not about erasing your past or becoming someone different. It is about helping you feel more present, connected, and in control of your life today. Together, we work toward reducing the hold trauma has on your thoughts and body, developing self-compassion, strengthening your sense of safety, and reconnecting with the authentic parts of yourself that may have been lost or pushed aside.
You don't have to tell your entire story before you're ready. We will meet you where you are, honor your pace, and create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where healing can happen without judgment or pressure.
